A: If a colour cartridge sits idle for a period of time its colours may bleed into each other. Another reason why the colours mix is if one colour has run out before the others. In this case the other colours are drawn up into the empty chamber. The first colour to mix is usually yellow.

A: Tiny resistors in the Printhead heat the ink to boiling point, causing a small bubble of air to form just behind the jets. Ink drops of different sizes are forced onto the paper and this creates a vacuum, drawing more in into the chamber. This process occurs thousands of times per second to produce your prints.

A: The average cycle of a cartridge cannot be measured in time. It is measured in the amount of pages you print. Print quality also needs to be taken into account. Try changing the print quality to a draft setting to achieve more prints.
A: We can tell you the average number of times your cartridge type can be refilled. Usually a black cartridge can be filled around 10 times and colour cartridges can be filled up to 5 times or more. The exact number of times depends on whether the cartridge is kept in good working order. Some cartridges cannot successfully be filled even once although we have recorded some Printhead cartridge being refilled more than 20 times. In theory cartridges without Printheads can be refilled over and over again.
A: Looking after your cartridge means refilling when there is still some ink remaining in the cartridge. Excessive use with an empty cartridge can lead to a burnt out Printhead. Also if you notice a particular colour fading on the paper, bring the cartridge in for a partial refill. When traveling to our store, colour cartridges should be stored in an air tight container and black cartridges can be wrapped in glad wrap to prevent further blocking of the Printhead.
A: If a cartridge is left unused for a long time and the paper comes out blank or the print quality is poor, your cartridges are probably blocked. The cartridges can usually be fixed by following this procedure. Go into the printer properties, do a Printhead clean and then follow with a nozzle check. You may need to repeat these steps several times which can use up all of the ink in your cartridges. If this doesn't work you will need to bring the cartridges in for cleaning.

A: All maintenance tasks can be found in your printer properties. To get here click on the Start button and navigate to the control panel. Double click on the Printer and Faxes icon. Once you have located the printer right click its icon and select properties. This opens the printer properties window and this is where you select the maintenance tab or sometimes called the service tab. Perform a nozzle check to determine if you need to do a cleaning procedure. The best thing you can do is use the printer at least once a week.

A: The best way to remove an ink stain from your hands is to scrub them with domestic bleach. You can also use sand soap or simply do the washing up a few times. If you spill ink on your clothes, spray citrus cleaner onto the spill before the ink dries.
A: No, ink aint inks. Ink properties differ greatly between brands and models of printers. Some inks are pigment based and others are dye based. An incorrect ink can irreversibly clog the Printhead rendering the cartridge useless. We will always swap any left over ink for the correct ink if the original has been purchased from us.
